Women of the ELCA of Israel's Creek Lutheran Parish

To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ

We are a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit; we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.

Israel Lights Plan for New & Exciting Year

The Israel Lights held their first meeting of the new year to plan for 2011. Peggy Trimmer, as hostess, led the Bible Study based on the theme of worship using the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. The following items were discussed: continuing to support families in need, the prayer shawl ministry, and staffing the thrift shop (February for Evangelical and March for Chapel.)

The officers for 2011 will continue to be: President, Mitzi Smith; V-president, Jean Duncan; Secretary, Peggy Trimmer; Treasurer, Betty Welsh.

Mark your calendars for the annual geranium flower sale beginning on April 1st until delivery date on May 7th at Evangelical.

The group plans to meet on March 19th at 9am at Evangelical with Mitzi as hostess, and extends as invitation to all women of the parish. Any questions, please call Mitzi at 301-898-5539 (evenings).

The Women of the ELCA has prayer shawls available for your friends and loved ones to have for comfort and warmth in prayer, helping them feel the warmth and closeness of the Lord when they are hurting in body, mind, or spirit. These prayer shawls are given at no cost to anyone whom you feel needs this gentle and loving presence of the Lord in their lives. To ask for a prayer shawl, please see Mitzi Smith, Pastor Dot, or any member of the Women of the ELCA.
